Biafra: Ohaneze disowns Nnamdi Kanu, reveals solution to Nigeria’s problems

Ohaneze Ndigbo has dissociated itself from Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB’s agitation to secede from Nigeria

- The group insisted that restructuring remains the solution to Nigeria’s problems

- The IPOB and MASSOB had been calling for secession of Igbo from Nigeria

Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex socio-political organisation of the Igbo has again dissociated itself from Independent People of Biafra (IPOB)’s agitation to secede from Nigeria.

The IPOB is led by Nnamdi Kanu who was recently released by the Abuja High Court after he had spent over one year in ddetention.

The Punch reports that the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Ohanaeze, Chuks Ibegbu said that the group believes more in a restructured Nigeria; a Nigeria that has a level playing field for all sections of the country; a Nigeria that gives each part of the country a sense of belonging.

NAIJ.com gathered that Ibegbu said: “For example, in a country of 36 states, the South-East has five states and 95 local governments; while Kano State alone has 44 local governments. The other time, we saw the statistics of recruitment in the Department of State Services with Katsina State alone having 51 allocations. Yet, we have the Federal Character Commission.

TRAGEDY STRIKES BRASS ISLAND AS A WELL KNOWN FIRST CLASS WELDER DIES IS ACTION

A known first class welder named Brandi died while handling a welding work at Diema area in Brass Island. The welder who lives at Imbikiri Twon Brass, an indigene of Odioama in Brass LGA was arranged by a friend to work at Diema area. While in the process of the work he was knocked down by part of the iron he was working on, other members at the site who were involved in other section of the work escaped successfully but the deceased Mr. Brandi was trapped due the muddy environment of the work. Mr. Brandi who is married with children also caring of nieces and nephews suddenly left his family in sorrows, meanwhile Mr. Brandi also lost one of his niece just a week ago. May He RIP.

FG BOOST RICE PRODUCTION IN BAYELSA STATE

The Federal Government has shown commitment to support agriculture, as it is currently supporting Niger Delta ex-militant, Mr Paul Eris, popularly known as General Ogunboss, in rice production in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The Federal Government ,through the Ministry of Agriculture matched words with action by providing 320 paddies in the first quarters in 2017, and 10 tonnage rice mill to boost production in the state and country. Elated Eris said the rice project, known as Peremabiri Rice Farm, which occupies 2,500 hectares in Southern Ijaw, was on a mission to bridge the insufficient gap in rice production and to reduce importation of rice in the country.
